About Stephen
Hello, my name is Stephen. I'm 26 years old and a Nigerian. A Performing Arts (Dance Major) graduate from a very prestigious university in Nigeria, a choreographer, an actor, a composer... I'm basically an artist.
Dance, for me, is a culture – yeah! A way of life!
I say this because at first, I wasn't exactly trained to dance (even though I eventually learned all I now know via series of rigorous training sessions)... It all just comes to me naturally. Growing up as a very young child, my mom (who is now late. God bless her soul) played a major role in helping become all that I am today as she would always buy me CDs of music videos that had dance in them and amazingly, I'd just get all the routines just by watching those videos. Thank you Mom!
Over the years, I've studied dance in school, joined various dance guilds and learned several dance genres and styles under several instructors and I've been performing before a large audience since 2006 at age 10. I started choreographing not long after that experience and that's how I discovered my passion for this art called dance and choreography.
I am particularly teaching African/Nigerian traditional dances for three main reasons.
1. I love this genre as it is more original to me, being an African.
2. The richness of the African culture as reflected in their dances is just so vast that I honestly believe that it cannot be exhausted and we have not yet fully tapped into it.
3. To contribute my own quota in keeping the cultural heritage of these various cultures and pass them on for generations to come.

I am a qualified choreographer/dance instructor with well over 8 years experience in African/Nigerian traditional and contemporary dances. I also know a few other dance genres but I'm not majoring on them for this course.
I'm specifically dedicated to breaking every movement down to the very last detail so you don't need to worry about not getting it because together, we'll get your desired result—that too, in a shorter while than you think.
Every class will be more practical than theory based since dance itself involves action and assignments will follow every session. This is designed to keep students engaged till the next class.
Classes are open to students from age 6 and above.
There are three levels on which the classes operate namely the beginner, intermediate and advanced classes based on the student's preference and specific needs.
Each session will last for 1 hour and you can decide on how long you want us to go.
