About Sophie
Hi my name is Sophie. I'm a first year university student studying music and science. I play both flute and piano and have always loved listening to and playing music. I achieved 100% overall in music extension in year 12, and 99% in music, achieved the Chairperson of the School Board (A or equivalent percentage grade in all subjects) from years 7 to 12, achieved several high distinction awards for AMEB performance and theory exams, as well as placing in several local eisteddfods. My amazing teachers over the years inspired me to continue to play and improve, sparking my love of music and keeping me motivated no matter what was happening in my life. I would love to continue their teachings by tutoring you, not only to teach you how to understand music, but also to enjoy and connect with the music you play and listen to.

Every student will receive personalized lesson plans based on their needs and individual learning styles. This may include; piano sessions to understand the practical side of theory, theory worksheets and games, or singing and rhythm exercises for aural. Lessons last for 30 to 45 minutes. Students can prepare for AMEB exams if they wish, or just learn for fun. I play flute at approximately an AMEB CMus standard, piano at approximate AMEB 8th grade, and AMEB theory 4th grade. Tutoring is for any age student, at beginner to intermediate (approximately AMEB grade 3 theory) level.
