About Mavis
I’m a degree-qualified music teacher with several years of experience teaching students one-to-one.
I’m bubbly, patient, encouraging, and organised, and I always try to make lessons feel comfortable and approachable. I enjoy breaking down difficult musical concepts into simple steps, adapting to different learning styles, and helping students build confidence instead of feeling intimidated by theory.
I believe students learn best when lessons are structured but still interactive, supportive, and enjoyable, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and understand the reasoning behind each concept.

I break difficult theory concepts into simple steps, help students understand the “why” behind each answer, and tailor lessons to their pace, whether they are preparing for ABRSM Grade 1–8 Theory or GCE O-Level Music.
